Why, when, where we need internet security
Internet Security
, why, when and where you should secure your internet connected PC.Why worry? Internet security, being connected
As soon as you connect a computer to the internet, regardless of how careful you are, there's always some risk involved.
Well, you might say, that's not very nice. Here I am in my own home or small business office, minding my own business and all I want to do it check for any email, or use internet instant messaging with a few friends. What could go wrong.
Who'd be interested in what I'm doing with my computer on the internet?
The answer is many computers (usually not people) worldwide, that are infected with some virus or Trojan horse or spyware or bots (robots) that are constantly seeking new (un protected) computers to carry on their secret nasty, nefarious business through the internet.
When connected? Internet security
Earlier in the history of Windows XP, there was a virus that
typically infected an un-patched Windows XP PC within one minute of
connecting to the internet.
It all happened so quickly.
Then the job was to remove the virus and install the necessary
windows update.
Many computers, which don't have proper internet security and virus protection, carry viruses for years before some new problem or virus affects the computer, causing it to go so slooow especially when the internet is active. Then there's a call for computer help and support that identifies not one new virus or internet security issue but sometimes hundreds of virus or spyware problems with that particular computer.
The computer can usually be fixed, but in extreme cases a full re-load of windows and other application is the only real way to get it working right again.
Where? Connected Internet Security in Australia
About the only way to preserve a computer from any risk these days, is to keep it isolated from the internet and other computers.
Never insert disks, flash drives or CD's from other people or sources.
Never connect it, even for a short minute, to the internet.
Only a few people can operate this way, these on-line instantly connected internet times.
Yes, there are still people using DOS, Windows 3.1, WordStar, WordPerfect or another ancient word processor who can manage their business by fax, printed pages and (postal) letters and don't really need current, up to date protection against viruses, spyware using the latest internet security software.
But they, indeed, are very few and far between.
